Mr. Gleason retired from the Firm on December 31, 2022.
James P. Gleason, Jr. is a founding shareholder of the firm. His practice areas include medical malpractice and health care litigation and medical licensing, staff privileges & credentialing. Mr. Gleason has represented various health care providers, hospitals, nursing homes, physicians and nurses. He has served as counsel for various hospitals in the District of Columbia and Maryland.
Mr. Gleason received his juris doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1978 and B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh in 1975. He was admitted to practice in Maryland in 1978, and in the District of Columbia in 1979.
Mr. Gleason is admitted to practice before the Maryland Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, the United States Court of Appeals, 4th Circuit, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, and the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. He is an experienced courtroom attorney who has tried over 100 trials in the courts of Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia, including both jury and bench trials. He is the attorney of record on a significant number of reported cases reaching the appellate courts. In addition to a regular trial practice, he has successfully represented clients before various arbitration panels and administrative tribunals.
Mr. Gleason was inducted as a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2002 and served as Chair of the Maryland State Committee from 2010-2012. He was elected as an Advocate member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) in 2000. Mr. Gleason has an "AV" rating from Martindale-Hubble (highest in legal ability and ethical standards), and is included in the Martindale-Hubble Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. He has been frequently recognized by The Washingtonian Magazine in its listing of the "Top Lawyers in Washington”, as well as by The Baltimore Magazine’s, “Top Attorneys of Maryland”.
